We find it interesting as the majority of the Portuguese population has a love relationship with coffee instead of tea, although there's many Portuguese tea drinkers. Other interesting facts are TEA being a common beverage link between nations. Tea has secured second place as being the most common drink among Western Europeans, as well as Eastern, Asiatic and African populations after water.

And one more interesting fact, is that the oldest European tea plantation is located in Portugal, specifically in the Açores island. Meaning that the Portuguese has a long term relationship with tea, going back decades.

Do you know where the word TEA comes from? (tongue in cheek) ... A fun legend has it that the crates were marked by the Portuguese tea carriers "Transporte de Ervas Aromaticas " (Transport of Aromatic Herbs) – with abbreviation T.E.A. marked on the boxes. If its true or not, we have no idea, but we love the "suggestion".
